Concept design for a new residential dwelling on an exposed north-facing hillside with views across to Whangarei Heads.

With a predetermined site and groundworks complete the scheme was developed in close collaboration with the client. Key objectives were to maximise views, create sheltered living, recognise the language of the existing building on site, and futureproof the house for accessible living.

The interior has been arranged to place an open-plan living and dinning space along the length of the building, with apertures placed to benefit the harbour views and bi-folding doors to allow the facade to open up and facilitate indoor/outdoor flow.

The layout has been arranged to ensure efficiency of space, with thought given to integrated storage and locating functional spaces to the rear.
